My name is Mark D. and I have worked in the music/film industry for decades.
When I first heard Daniel’s music, it gave an independent film a true artistic and emotional touch so I was determined to meet the music supervisor and learn more about his music. There wasn’t much to go on but when I learned he had provided a whole CD to the filmmaker and subsequently disappeared, it became my quest to find him and help him get his music into more films even though I hadn’t met him or heard him sing.
I found several links on myspace and on youtube and around the summer of 2007, a sequel to the first film A.P.S.K. was released also featuring some of his music. Turns out he was in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington finalizing his latest album “Mauricio’s Ghost” and we spoke over the phone. Several months passed we eventually moved from our studio in Westminster, California to North Hollywood. It was there that we began working together and we invited Hawks to play at my acoustic charity event for “Light The Night” in 2008 at the Room 5 Lounge in Hollywood.
He brought a few copies of “Mauricio’s Ghost“ to us and after loading it into my computer I was ecstatic and played his album for nearly every person that walked through my door. Some of my friends swear that I had changed their lives exposing them to his music and several artists who came to my studio to paint, listened to it while creating some of their best work. Daniel relocated to Southern California at the tail end of 2008 and has been heavily involved in the music scene up and down the coast since then; performing, booking and engineering several bands and shows at different venues. In the last 5 years we have formed a working relationship and true friendship and I am excited to be involved in the production and release of his newest body of work, Eastwood Manzanita.
